Itinerary:
The Great Wall, which is said the only man-maid object visible from the moon. The Great Wall of China is an ancient Chinese fortification built by different kingdoms to protect China from raids by the Mongols and Turkic tribes.
The Ming Tombs are a group of mausoleums of 13 Ming Emperors. The underground burial chamber of Ming Emperor Wanli is open to the public since the excavation in 1956.

Note: This line includes two free sightseeing, Olympic Park and Institute of Zoology, CAS, provided by the Organizing Committee of the 23rd SCB meeting. Please indicate your choice between the whole itinerary and the free ones when registration.
Itinerary:
Beijing Olympic Park is a big oxygen bar of the city. It is a leisure park with scenery similar to classical Chinese landscape painting. Beijing Olympic Park lies in the north of the central axis of the city. Covering an area of 1215 hectares, with 760 hectares set aside for woods and grass, 405 hectares for the International Exhibition and Sports Center and 50 hectares for the Chinese Nationalities Museum, Beijing Olympic Park is larger that the total of the Summer Palace and the Yuanmingyuan Park.
As the host of the 23rd SCB meeting, Institute of Zoology (IOZ)(http://www.ioz.ac.cn/english/index.asp), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), is a government-funded research institute in zoological sciences, and it has a long history of 80 years. The predecessor of IOZ was Fan Memorial Institute of Biology founded in 1928. Many distinguished scientists including thirteen CAS Academicians started their research career in IOZ. The National Zoological Museum is known as the biggest, most advanced and competent Animal Systematics and Evolutionary Research Center. The new museum will open in early April, 2009.
We strongly recommend the Hutong tour; it is a tour on an old style rickshaw in the old city residential areas. It is the place where you can experience the local culture traditional Chinese life.

Itinerary:
The Tian'anmen Square is the biggest city square and it is the heart of modern Beijing. Tiananmen (Gate of Heavenly Peace) was initially built in 1420 during Emperor Yongle's reign in the Ming Dynasty. The Forbidden City is the best preserved imperial palace in the world and was the political center of China for nearly 500 years.
The Forbidden City or Forbidden Palace is located at the exact center of the ancient city of Beijing, was the imperial palace during the mid-Ming and the Qing Dynasties. Known now as the Palace Museum, its extensive grounds cover 720,000 square meters, 800 buildings and more than 8,000 rooms. The Forbidden City has the largest collection of preserved ancient wooden structures in the world, and was declared a World Heritage Site in 1987 as the "Imperial Palace of the Ming and Qing Dynasties". The Imperial Palace Grounds are located directly to the north of Tiananmen Square and are accessible from the square via Tiananmen Gate. It is surrounded by a large area called the Imperial City.
The Temple of Heaven is situated in the southern part of Beijing, about 6 Km away from the center of the city. Traditionally, this temple was for imperial use only. It was built in 1420, covering an area of 273 hectares, it is the one of the largest parks in Beijing. The Temple of Heaven was the place where the emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasties worshipped heaven and prayed for good harvests

Itinerary:
Rickshaws will be taken to tour the hutongs, Beijing's back lanes lined with authentic courtyard houses, for a glimpse of traditional domestic life. A brief visit to the charming Gongwangfu Palace is also included in the tour.
The Summer Palace, is the best-kept existing royal garden in Beijing. The design gives prominence to the Longevity Hill and the Kunming Lake.
